The Smoky Hollow Suite
The name "Smoky Hollow" comes from an area of waterfront from Church to Broad Streets that was partially filled during the 1930's New Deal dredge operation and later helped to create Water Street. This area was oringinally comprised of homes, fish houses, and boatyards. The name "Smoky Hollow" is a nickname originating from the story that a huge sawdust mound (near the local lumber mill) caught fire and smoldered for months. This area later became a charter boat basin.
